Project name: Cubed.
Industry: SaaS / Real Estate.
Project duration: 4 months.
My role: Lead UI/UX Designer.
Conducted in-depth research to enhance the user experience of the project concept, which involved creating an app and website for a real estate company.
Transformed the client brief into a fully functional prototype, incorporating innovative design elements and features that exceeded the client’s expectations.
Participated in every stage of the design process, from ideation to iteration, and ensured the quality and consistency of the final product.
Conducted two moderated remote user testing sessions to collect feedback and insights from different user segments, and used them to refine the concept and design of the app.
Revamped and art directed the client’s new website, including the direction of the high-quality 3D assets to showcase the building designs (the website is not yet launched).
Managed the project timeline, deliverables, and communication with the client and stakeholders.
Designed custom-made icons that aligned with the brand identity and vision.
This project was a significant opportunity for me to enhance my skills and knowledge as a UI/UX designer, as it involved working directly with the stakeholder for the first time. I acquired new competencies and insights in the following domains:
Presenting to Stakeholders. Stakeholders and clients do not think like designers. The challenge is know what they want, what the business needs, and how to articulate the design decisions towards those needs. I also learned how to handle feedback and revisions, and how to negotiate and compromise when necessary.
Naming conventions. Applying clear and consistent names to facilitate effective communication with the client and handoff with the developers.
Cultural and audience differences. Users from different regions has different meanings and expectation on colors, icons, UI preferences. It’s best to conduct user research to validate each design decisions.
User testing. Over the course of this project, I have learned from my mistakes and developed greater proficiency in conducting user testing sessions. I have improved my ability to select the appropriate methods and tools, recruit and screening participants, preparing test scenarios and tasks, moderating the sessions, collecting and analyzing data, and reporting the findings and recommendations.
UI patterns and library. I initially spent a lot of time creating my own unique UI elements. Over time, I realized the advantages of using established UI patterns to communicate functionality more efficiently. This shift not only sped up the testing process but also had a more immediate impact.
